CAPESIZE
A busy market with rates moving in more or less all areas of the market with still some way to go, brokers said. This was a combination of a moving West Australia market combined with Brazil then throwing in some north Atlantic trading.
Timecharter rates moved rapidly with the eco 2015-built 179,818-dwt Anangel Unity fixed from Kwangyang 8-9 September for a West Australian round at $11,500 daily with Panocean. The Lowlands Sunrise 181,458-dwt 2011-built fixed from Lanqiao 8 September for an Australian round at $11,500 daily while Hyundai Glovis booked the Rosco Maple 179,764-dwt 2010-bilt from Huanghua for an Australian round at $10,000 daily. The 17-year old 171,850-dwt Cape Osprey fixed for 9-11 September delivery Tianjin for a Brazil round at $8,600 daily with a South Africa option at an undisclosed level. Oldendorff booked the SC Lotta 169,057-dwt 2009-built from Tianjin retroactive 5 September for an east coast Australian round, but a rate was not reported.
There was too activity on the C5 route, West Australia/China, but again charterers were generally denying reports. FMG fixed 21 September for a 160,000-tonne 10% cargo from Port Hedland to Qingdao at $5.20 and possibly a second at $5.25. Rio Tinto fixed the Rugia 2011-built went at $5.05 for a 170,000-tonne 10% cargo from Dampier to Qingdao and the Jiangsu Steamship relet Berge Apo 2000-built for similar business at $5.10 with both for 19 September onwards loading.
Sinoeast reportedly claimed to have fixed a 20-30 September coal cargo from Gladstone to east coast India earlier today on subjects on timecharter.
Vale took a SafBulk vessel for a Teluk Rubiah/Qingdao at $4.25. Cosco covered a 21-29 September from Newcastle to China, but a rate was not reported.
There was some rate Richards Bay trading hitting the lights with a SwissMarine vessel fixed for a 150,000-tonne 10% cargo from Richards Bay to Rotterdam for mid-September at an improved $5.25. Trafigura reportedly covered a second half cargo from Richards Bay to Kandla at $5.75 and Oldendorff did $5.50 for a mid-September cargo on this run.
The Nightlife 179,455-dwt 2015-built sailed Mundra 3 September and has reportedly fixed, but details were not reported.
From Brazil, Classic Maritime took the CCL controlled Golden Kathrine 2015-built on subjects for a 21-24 September 170,000-tonne 10% cargo from Ponta Da Madeira to Qingdao at $10.60. The ship was due open Falmouth and CCL on its website said this rate equated to $13,420 daily basis a slow steam over 69.7 days. Caravel reportedly relet the 2012-built Delos for 15-20 September for a CSN/Qingdao cargo at $10.15 without commissions involved.
There was talk of Vale fixing a cargo from Tubarao to Qingdao at $10.65, but little emerged.
Winning reportedly covereda 23-28 September cargo from Kamsar to China in the high $10.00s.
Further north, the KSL Sydney 181,015-dwt 2014-built due Cape Passero 6 September fixed a Colombia/Rotterdam cargo with Cargill allegedly at an improved $5.50.
Rogesa was linked with an Oldendorff Newcastlemax for a Seven Islands/Rotterdam cargo around $4.50, but others had linked the KWK Legacy 179,688-dwt 2011-built with the business.


PANAMAX
The Atlantic market remained sluggish both north Atlantic and in the south Atlantic. Charterers were lowballing rates in the US Gulf with rates in the $10,000s daily range and low $200,000s bonus for runs to the east. South America trading was slow today with little reported fixed.
The east was busier for NoPac cargoes and rates improved but although there was business a fair amount of cargo to be moved from Indonesia there remained a plentiful supply for spot-prompt tonnage.
Oldendorff was linked the 2000-built 74,078-dwt Deneb from Rizhao 6-9 September for 4 to 7 months trading at $5,000 daily, but this was concluded early-mid last week.

ATLANTIC
The 83,448-dwt 2010-built Panamanian spot Rotterdam has gone with the owner preferring front haul with some linking the vessel with Louis Dreyfus for a trip from Murmansk to China in the mid $10,000s daily.
Thhe Katagalan Wisdom III 98,000-dwt 2012-built open Gdansk 8 September was linked with Atlantic Coal & Bulk for a trip from Ust Luga to the Continent somewhere in the $5,000s daily but with a bunker upside for the owner's account, brokers said.
Earlier Azure took the Cervia 92,500-dwt 2010-built from Gibraltar 10-15 September for a trip via the US Gulf to the Continent at just $4,100 daily.
The 81.507-dwt 2012-built Prime Lily spot Praia Mole has also fixed clean, but details were not reported.
In the US Gulf, the eco Kypros Sky 77,100-dwt 2015-built fixed from South West Pass 10-15 September for a trip to Gibraltar-Skaw at $11,750 daily, but a charterer was not reported.
Noble was said to have fixed on subjects tonnage for a 21 September onwards from Colomba to Skaw-Cape Passero, but details were not disclosed.
Hayne booked tonnage earlier taking the Guan Hai 228 2012-built 79,775-dwt from Aliaga 10-14 September for a trip via the Black Sea to Southeast Asia at $11,500 daily.

ASIA
Norden was linked with the 2006-built 82,790-dwt Navios Harmony from CJK for a NoPac round at $6,000 daily. BG Shipping booked the 2015-built Kamsarmax Ever Grace from the same area for a NoPac round at $5,950 daily or possibly $6,000 daily.
Earlier Marubeni fixed clean the Kypros Bravery 77,078-dwt 2015-built from Samcheonpo for a NoPac round at $6,500 daily.
There was talk that Louis Dreyfus booked the eco BTG Olympos, 2015-built Kamsarmax for 14-15 September delivery Chiba for a NoPac round at something over $7,000 daily with some suggesting $7,300 to $7,400 daily, but this was denied.
Bostomar allegedly took the 81,402-dwt 2011-built Mariane Stoeger basis aps east coast Australia 15-20 September for a trip to east coast India at $5,500 daily plus a $145,000 bonus.
Sinoeast was said to have covered a 20-30 September cargo from Gladstone to east coast India on a timecharter basis in the low $5,000s daily range.
Recently the 2010-built Concordia 82,499-dwt 2012-built fixed retroactive Jintang 21 Australia for a trip via east coast Australia to east coast India at $6,200 daily with Oldendorff.
Winking booked tonnage for an 8-19 September 75,000-tonne 10% cargo from Adelaide to Jintang at a rate in the low $9.00s.
Suek relet a cargo to Tongli for a 13-19 September cargo from Vanino to Lanshan around $4.00.


ULTRAMAX/SUPRAMAX
ATLANTIC
A 60,00-dwt Ultramax was linked to a pet coke run from US Gulf redelivery Spain at $12,000 daily. The Western Wilton 2011-built 57,981-dwt fixed delivery east coast South America redelivery Singapore-Japan at $10,250 plus around $130,000 ballast bonus. Western Bulk Carriers was reported to have fixed the Genco Muse 48,913-dwt 2001-built for clinker basis delivery south Spain redelivery West Africa at $9,0000 daily.

ASIA
Huisheng was mentioned to have taken the Pangea 55,660-dwt 2012-built open Singapore at $7,650 daily for a trip via Indonesia redelivery Thailand with coal.
For vessels open further north, a 58,000-dwt 2011-built was on subjects for a steel trip down to the Philippines at $6,000 daily basis aps Tianjin. The Mandarin Phoenix 56,778-dwt 2011-built open Lanshan failed on subjects for a similar trip at $7,000 daily and was then being traded for nickel ore.
The Thelisis 58,814-dwt 2010-built was linked to a 3 to 5 months short period fixture delivery from the PG with the rate believed to be around $7,000 daily.


HANDYSIZE

ATLANTIC
The Lady Demet 30,125-dwt open Ghent was put on subjects and some sources suggesting for a trip with PGSC but this remained uncertain. Pacific Basin was said to have put a 37,000-dwt on subjects for a trip from the Continent to Brazil and some suggesting a rate in the low $6,000s. Western Bulk was understood to have fixed its 37,000-dwt from the Continent but further details failed to materialise. A Japanese charterer was understood to have fixed a Handy for a trip basis delivery Safi redelivery Brazil with grains in the low $5,000s. A 28,000-dwt was rumoured to have fixed basis delivery Milos trip to Egypt in the mid $6,000s.

ASIA
Limited information from this basin but a ship open South China was linked to trip to west coast India on subjects in the in the mid $6000s.
