Capesize
The Cape market finished the week with a flourish. Talk of various fixtures concluded late yesterday and maybe some today for west Australia to China started with FMG said to have fixed $4.50 for end August dates on the Cape Zenith (180,120 built 2010).
The Mineral Ningbo 178,120 built 2009 was taken by Rio yesterday rumoured at $4.40 basis 25 August onwards.
Oldendorff were linked with the Mount Ophir (180,181 built 2004) at $4.55 for similar dates.
BHP fixed Eastern Pacific tonnage at $4.60 and possibly also the Greta Selmer (175,181 built 2011) at $4.75 for 25/28 August.
Rio Tinto were rumoured to have fixed an early vessel at $4.70, but no details have been confirmed.
Oldendorff covered their Taboneo to India 25/29 August cargo on T/C basis but no vessel or rate has emerged.
The Goonzaran a 1995 built 148,663 vessel was fixed for Rizhao delivery for an EC australian roundvoyage, no rate has been reported and rumoured Jiangsu Steamship were the charterers.
The Shagangfirst Power 179,527 built 2011 open Jintang mid August fixed a west coast South American roundvoyage at $7,500 daily with Oldendorff and the same charterers fixed the Cape Sakura 181,663 delivery Japan end August for an Australian roundvoyage at $7,000 daily.
Cargill won the Ore & Metal tender for Saldhana Bay to Qingdao basis 3/8 September at $6.90.
There was very little reported in the Atlantic, Arcelor Mittal were said to have fixed a vessel (possibly Phaethon's New Athens 170,565 '99) for their Norfolk to Praia Mole cargo but no more details emerged.
Ferrexpo have fixed a vessel for their Yuzhnyto Qingdao cargo basis 4/9 September dates, but no vessel or rate has been reported.
Anlgo fixed a vessel for their Acu/China cargo with 4 September cancelling at a shade under $10.00.


Panamax
With the excitement of the last few days a much quieter day today , maybe the widespread religious holiday on Monday gave rise to this.

ATLANTIC
Noble was rumoured to have put 75000/10 cargo Ventspils to Italy on subjects, brokers suggested the Adam 1 79,775-dwt could have been the vessel but exact details
remained sketchy. An 82,000-dwt was heard to have fixed with Sinoriches for a trip US Gulf to the Far East but no more details came to light. An 81,000-dwt was heard
to have been fixed and failed for a trip US Gulf to Singapore-Japan at $11,000 daily plus $300,000 ballast bonus. An 82,000-dwt giving eta east coast South America early September, was heard on subjects for a trip Singapore-Japan, brokers suggested at $8,000 plus $300,000 ballast bonus but further details remained sketchy. D'Amico was understood to have fixed their Brazil to Japan requirement for 7-15 September dates but no further details came to light.

ASIA
An unnamed post-panamax was rumoured to have fixed on subjects for a pacific round in the high $6,000's. A 78,000-dwt 2009-built was reported fixed by JSSC at $5,800 daily basis delivery Japan mid August for an Australian round redelivery China at $5,800 daily. Raffles was heard to have taken a panamax at close to $4,000 daily
for an Indonesian round basis delivery South China. It was suggested that a vessel open Singapore fixed and failed at $6,000 daily for a trip via Indonesia redelivery Souith China. A 73,000-dwt was heard fixed on short period basis CJK in the low $6,000's. The Zoe 74,500-dwt 2012-built open Sual was heard fixed in the $5,000's for a trip via Indonesia redelivery south China. 70,010 cargo Port Kembla to Antwerp option Rotterdam with laycan 20-30 September was said to be on subjects but further details were not released.


Supra

It has been a busy week in general even though a number of European offices have been short staffed because the holiday season is in full flow. The Continent market has been steady while the Mediterranean/Black Sea has been the firmest area. East coast South America has been the weakest Atlantic sector with the US Gulf not far behind although some sources are talking things could start to improve. The situation in the Pacific has been weaker with various holidays taking its toll.

Rumours about a 55,000-dwt vessel having covered a scrap cargo delivery UK/Continent to east Mediterranean at $7,900 are so far unconfirmed.
Brokers advised the Cos Glory 46,689-dwt built 1999 open Bejaia was on subjects with clinker for a trip into West Africa at something in the $8,000s delivery dop.
The AS Vincentia 56,708-dwt 2010 built was apparently on subjects at $12,000 daily delivery Canakkale trip to EC India-Japan range. Too many rumours surrounded a 61,000 tonner allegedly having been fixed and then reported as failed for a trip delivery US Gulf to the Far East at about $16,000 daily, hopefully more will come to light on Monday. 횄혗횂혫 A Danish account was linked to have taken a Danish controlled 60,000-dwt vessel delivery US Gulf trip Atlantic Colombia at $10,000 daily.
A 52,000-dwt ship was close to fixing delivery east coast South America trip to Singapore- Japan at about $9,000 daily plus $90,000 ballast bonus. The Star Challenger a 61,462- dwt built 2012 fixed and failed delivery Santos to PG-India at $9,250 plus $95,000 ballast bonus. Further reports a Tess 58 was busy fixing delivery Tema trip via West Africa to India at about something in the mid-high $8,000s.

The Bulk Ecuador 2011 57,937-dwt is reported fixed with nickel ore delivery Dafeng trip via Philippines redelivery China at $7,000 daily.
Two vessels were reported having fixed and failed, one 58,000 tonner delivery Caofeidian 17/19 August trip via Philippines to China at $6,500 daily and
the Anni Selmer 2009 built 55,639-dwt basis Singapore via Indonesia to China at $7,000 daily. The Amstel Tiger 60,454-dwt built 2016 covered a NoPac round voyage redelivery SE Asia at $6,750 daily. Further fixtures today included the Yuan An Hai 2009 built 56,957-dwt delivery Huanghua trip with steels tol SE Asia at $6,500 daily.
The Diamond Sky 2012 55,304-dwt delivery Singapore trip via Indonesia redelivery South China at $6,750 daily and the Erlyne 50,194-dwt delivery Inchon trip redelivery WC India at $7,000 daily.


Handy

Brokers feeling the Continent has been firm with the Mediterranean being slightly weaker. The rest of the Atlantic has struggled to keep pace at the moment.
The Asian scene for this size has been steady but actual confirmed fixtures still not coming to light.

The Miltiades II 2006 built 30,535-dwt fixed to Cargill delivery South Brazil for a trip to the Mediterranean at $5,750 daily.
A Morocco to Brazil trip is on subjects with a 32,000 tonner but sources currently unable reveal further details.
The Pretty Sight 2013 35,200-dwt is said covered on subjects delivery San Lorenzo for a trip to the Continent at $6,500 daily.
An un-named handysize is being linked to a trip delivery Marmara for a trip to WC South America at something in the high $8,000s.
Sources advised a 28,000 tonner was covered delivery Canakkale trip to UK/Continent at about $3,250 daily.
Nothing emerged from Asia today.
