CAPESIZE
In the east, rates remained largely steady for West Australia/China cargoes with Rio Tinto again active today. The charterer took the Mount Hedland 2010-built and the Dream Coral 2015 each for 15-16 June onwards from Dampier to Qingdao at $4.30 and possibly also a Sinochart vessel Cape Sun 2010-built. The charterer Tuesday took 2 or 3 Tuesday at this level including the EdF relet Cape Leonidas 2010-built and the Mount Austin.
Cargill booked a Shagang vessel for a 15 June onwards 170,000-tonne 10% cargo from West Australia to Qingdao at $4.35. Earlier RGL booked Zosco tonnage for a 17-21 June cargo at $4.35.
The Hebei Legend 180,079-dwt 2010-built open Tianjin 3 June has reportedly fixed on subjects.
Oldendorff fixed a vessel open south China for a 10-20 June cargo from Dalrymple to Dhamra at $5,800 daily, but details were elusive. The charterer had been talking $6.00 versus $6.50 on voyage basis.
TKS booked tonnage on subjects for a 160,000-tonne 10% cargo from Dalrymple Bay to Rotterdam. Details remained private but some said the rate was around $6.00.
Uniper was today linked with the Monegasque Eclat 2006-built 177,000-dwt open ex drydock Zhoushan 10-15 June for period business, but it was yet to be confirmed if firmer $8,000 daily was agreed for 6 to 8 months.
In the north Atlantic, SwissMarine conceded $7,750 daily to the 179,701-dwt 2010-built Anangel Guardian from Gibraltar 3 June for a trip via Puerto Bolivar to Rotterdam. There was also unconfirmed reports that the Anangel Mariner 179,700-dwt 2011-built had also fixed basis Gijon delivery, but sources said that this was done last week and some linked E.ON with the business.

PANAMAX
There was a touch more activity generally although the north Atlantic remained in the doldrums while South America rates were at least steady. A mixed bag in the east with some reasonable rates agreed for NoPac rounds but further south charterers with Australian into southeast coal managed to secure tonnage at low rates.
Some owners appeared to be taking the option of waiting for period interest but so far trading was limited with owners and charterers far apart on rate ideas. Hyundai Glovis reportedly took the Sunny Young 81,966-dwt 2011-built fixed 4-8 June delivery CJK for 5 to 8 months trading at $5,350 daily.

ATLANTIC
The RWE relet Loch Long 81,944-dwt 2013-built was linked with ArcelorMittal on subjects for passing Cape Passero delivery for 2 to 3 laden legs within the Atlantic at $5,350 daily.
The Cobelfret relet Constantinos G.O. 87,447-dwt 2011-built open 3 June Ghent was initially reported fixed on subjects for transatlantic business but others said the vessel has gone for fronthaul business.
The 2013-built 81,545-dwt Mercurial Virgo, a Louis Dreyfus relet, was linked with Itiro for a trip from Murmansk to China, but a rate was not reported. Itiro booked in a 9-11 June 70,000-tonne 10% cargo from Eurochem from Murmansk to China at $16.25. Noble possibly took the Navig8 relet Kavala 83,688-dwt 2009-built for a cargo from Riga to Civitavecchia, but details were not disclosed.
CSE reportedly covered a 22-27 June 80,000-tonne 10% cargo from the St. Lawrence to Kaohsiung at $13.50. The charterer had also been linked with the 2013-built Kamsarmax from Hamburg 4-8 June for a trip via Seven Islands to Taiwan at $10,500 daily.
The Qi Xiang 2012-built 75,658-dwt eta 11 June in the US Gulf was rumoured fixed, but sources said the ship remained in the market.
From South America, the 81,900-dwt 2016-built Karlovasi after fixing and failing with Louis Dreyfus for a trip from east coast South America to the east at $7,650 daily plus a $265,000 bonus, went on subjects with Hyundai Glovis at $6,500 daily retroactive Trincomalee.
The Alpha Wisdom 81,305-dwt 2012-built was earlier reported on subjects for retroactive delivery Gangavaram on this run at $6,250 daily, but a charterer was not disclosed.
The KM Keelung 82,072-dwt 2012-built, a Pacific Bulk relet, was linked with CJ International for a trip from east coast South America to the east at $7,500 daily plus a $250,000 bonus. The ship ballasted from Gangavaram.
The Andros 82,150-dwt 2010-built passing the Cape of Good Hope 2 June was rumoured on subjects also on this run.
It emerged that the 2001-built 73,311-dwt Anastasia C fixed to Korea Line from Haldia 10-12 June for a trip via east coast South America to the east at $5,000 daily.
ADMI took the 2010-built Post Panamax Boavista from Recalada 25-30 June for a trip to Skaw-Cape Passero at low $6,250 daily.

ASIA
Here there were some reasonable rates paid for NoPac rounds given that the market has been very slow and easing. Bunge was linked with the 2007-built 74,395-dwt ADS Galtesund spot Chiba for a NoPac round at $5,250 daily. The 76,596-dwt 2005-built Double Happiness for prompt delivery Jintang for a NoPac round at $4,600 daily.
Hyundai Glovis appeared to have a few cargoes to move from Newcastle to Malaysia and also took the 2013-built Zhong Xin Pearl 75,321-dwt 2013-built from Dandong 31 May-4 June for a trip via Newcastle to Malaysia at $3,750 daily.
There was talk that the Jin Run 72,495-dwt 1998-built due ex drydock Zhoushan fixed for 1-2 June delivery for a trip via east coast Australia to east coast India at $3,500 daily, but a charterer was not reported. There had been talk that the SBI Rumba 2015-built 84,000-dwt was booked for a Richards Bay cargo on subjects, but others said the ship remained in the market.

SUPRAMAX/HANDYSIZE
As expected a slowish day still distorted by holidays Mondays but brokers expect more fixture information available Thursday.

Rumours circulated the Triton Swan 2012-built 61,457-dwt was on subjects for business within the Atlantic, but details remained under wraps. It was suggested the Equinox Eagle 61,208-dwt 2015-built was on subjects at $7,000 daily plus a ballast bonus of around $45,000 for a trip to the Mediterranean, with talk the ship had to wait for the business. Brokers discussing the market from east coast South America said it appeared softer for the first ten days of June. Talk of ships having fixed with a US Gulf delivery could not be substantiated but it appeared the market might still be firm. No known reports for fixtures with a Continent or Mediterranean delivery and both theatres appeared flat.
Sources reported the Star Globe 56,867-dwt built 2010 fixed at $5,250 daily dop south China for a trip via Philippines redelivery Thailand and the Amstel Stork, an Oshima 60 open Singapore 6-8 June, went at $6,000 dop for a trip via Australia to Vietnam.
From the PG a Supramax is linked to a German account for 3 to 5 months in the low $5,000s but for now, the actual delivery remained a mystery. Another possible period deal emerged of a 58,000-tonner delivery Onsan at around $5,750 daily, but this has yet to be clarified.

On the smaller sizes, a 34,000-dwt was linked with a grain house for a trip delivery Recalada to Bejaia and a 37,000-tonner might have been fixed delivery east coast South America for a trip to Algeria in the low $7,000s. Sources advised the Corinth 31,800-dwt built 2002 was fixed delivery Black Sea for the trip to Egypt at $5,000 per day. Nothing of note was mentioned within Asia for the Handysizes
