CAPESIZE
A reasonably active end to the week for the big ships with rates picking up just slightly. Rates for cargoes from West Australia to China clawed their way back to rates in the low $4.00 range.
FMG was linked with the Uniper relet Capricorn One 2015-built for an 11-13 June 160,000-tonne 10% cargo from Port Hedland to Qingdao at $4.20. There was talk that the charterer has since fixed a cargo at a rumoured $4.30 but some said the rate was more likely $4.25. Earlier the charterer was linked to the Leviathan 182,511-dwt 2014-built, but this ship went to Classic Maritime earlier this for a coa cargo from FMG. The 2010-built Sealink took was rumoured fixed to FMG but this was denied and sources said 180,116-dwt ship open CJK ppt fixed to EGPN for an Australian round at $6,000 daily. BHP Billiton late Tuesday booked the Anangel Everest 2010-built, an Everest relet for a 9 June onwards cargo at $4.15. There had been talk that Bilgent fixed a ship for 13 June onwards at $4.30, but others said the charterer remained in the market.
DHL allegedly booked a ship on timecharter at the same rate to move an 11-20 June cargo from Newcastle to China although there was talk the charterer took the Nicolemy 179,910-dwt 2014-built from CJK 27 May for a round voyage on subjects at $5,500 daily. Jiangsu Steamship allegedly paid $7,000 daily for a15-24 June cargo from Hay Point to China. Details of the ships involved were not disclosed.
The Dong-A Artemis 179,213-dwt 2012-built open Lianyungang 31 May has gone for a round in the east while the Nautical Dream 180,730-dwt 2013-built allegedly went to MOL for a 7-12 June cargo from Indonesia to India. In both cases details were not forthcoming.
BHP Billiton covered an 18-21 Jun 162,000-tonne 10% cargo from Hay Point to Qingdao at $4.40 and Kepco awarded HMM a tender at $6.28 nett to move a 13-20 June 130,000-tonne 10% cargo from Newcastle to Youngheng.
Libra covered a 20-29 June cargo from Richards Bay to Gangavaram on private terms.
There was little fresh activity in the Atlantic although GdF Suez fixed a 20-30 June cargo Thursday from Puerto Bolivar to Rotterdam at $5.10 with an EdF vessel possibly the Cape Amanda.
Sources said today that the Navios Etoile 179,234-dwt 210-built fxed directly to move a cargo from Pepel to China Thursday at $8.05.


PANAMAX
Trading drifted away as the week drew to a close with essentially little movement in rate although there were some prepared to take lower numbers to fix before a long weekend. There was more fixing from east coast South America but essentially much of the prompt business now covered and many moving towards 20-30 June slots. Rates were largely good Tess 76s and Kamsarmax trading around the low $7,000s and low $200,000s. The north Atlantic was sluggish but again little change in the US Gulf and limited trading from the Baltic. In the east, weaker rates have been done for NoPac rounds with rates allegedly now in the low $4,000s, but details were kept under wraps. Period interest remained in the market but not always matched with owners횄짖횂?횂혲 expectations. Enel was said to have relet the Vittoria 78,259-dwt 2013-built earlier for 25 May delivery Gibraltar for 10 to 16 months trading based on the BPI 4-timecharter average plus 15%. United reportedly took the ship.

ATLANTIC
The Puma Max 81,339-dwt 2012-built has now fixed for early June delivery east coast South America to the east at $7,250 daily plus a $225,000 bonus. There had been ongoing talk that Windrose took the ship but others said this was not the case and neither did Bunge. The 75,615-dwt Fortune East 2000-built was linked with ADMI for an early June position on this run at $7,200 daily plus a $220,000 bonus. The 73,288-dwt 2000-built Hai Qing accepted $6,500 daily plus a $150,000 bonus from Windrose on this run. Cofco Agri finally fixed the Beilun Sea Lion 75,971-dwt 2001-built for a sugar cargo from Brazil to the east for early June at $7,100 daily plus a $210,000 bonus. Omegra had the Necklace 92,903-dwt 2012-built for 16-17 June from east coast South America to Southeast Asia at $7,250 daily plus a $225,000 daily. D횄짖횂?횂혲Amico was said to be involved with the BTG Rainier 80,800-dwt 2016-built due PMO 25-30 June went for a trip to the east at $6,000 daily. Elsewhere Oldendorff booked the Eirini P 2004-built 76,466-dwt from Gibraltar 29-30 May for a trip via the US east coast to India at $9,000 daily. The NS Energy 74,518-dwt 2012-built, which sailed from Eemshaven for a trip via Baltic to Turkey on private terms. Some suggested the rate was in the mid-high $5,000 daily range basis passing Skaw.

ASIA
Here there was talk that Panocean fixed a cargo from NoPac to Taiwan, but little else emerged. Guodian took a Kamsarmax for a Queensland/China cargo, but details were not disclosed. Cabu (Klaveness) took the Pan Uno 75,995-dwt 2001-built from Hong Kong 30-31 May for a trip via Port Hedland to China with salt at $5,250 daily.

SUPRAMAX/HANDYSIZE
Unsurprisingly a slow end to the week with celebrations in Denmark and the long weekend in many areas.

ATLANTIC
From the US Gulf, a 58,000-dwt was understood to have fixed a petcoke run to Turkey at $11,000 daily. A 52,000-dwt was reportedly on subjects with a large grain house for a US Gulf front haul at close to $12,000 daily. An Ultra was said to have done a petcoke run from US Gulf to India on voyage basis at a timecharter of $16,750 daily, no voyage terms were heard. Otherwise, little further was heard.

ASIA
An Ultra 61,500-dwt open South Korea was rumoured to have fixed a NoPac round, but little further was heard. On the period front a 56,785-dwt open Indian Ocean for said to be on subjects for a short period of 3 to 5 months trading at $5,000 daily. The Novo Mesto 2005-built 53,626-dwt was fixed basis delivery Singapore for a trip via Indonesia redelivery South China. A 56,000-dwt open west coast India was fixed basis delivery passing South Africa for a short period of $6,000 daily plus a $120,000 ballast bonus. A 66,000-dwt fixed and failed basis delivery Moji for a trip via South Korea to east Mediterranean at $5,000 daily for first 50 days and $8,000 daily for the balance. The Fast 55,398-dwt 2012-built fixed delivery Richards Bay mid-June for trip redelivery Persian Gulf-west coast India $9,250 daily.
