CAPESIZE
A Singapore holiday largely curtailed trading with certainly the major Australian shippers absent from the market. Reports of business fixed were limited but there was talk that the 171,000-dwt 1999-built Cape Sun open Rizhao 7 July fixed to PacBulk for a Newcastle round voyage, but a rate was not reported.
China Steel Express earlier had the Anangel Fortune 175,500-dwt 2005-built on subjects for a 16-22 July 130,000-tonne 10% cargo from West Australia to Kaohsiung allegedly in the low $4.00s.
The result of a Baosteel tender to move a 25-30 July 170,000-tonne 10% cargo from Port Hedland to Majisan or Zhanjiang and Baoshan and a Hyundai Glovis tender to move a 25-30 July 170,000-tonne 10% cargo from Port Walcott or Dampier to Dangjin has yet to be disclosed.
Reports of ships fixing from Brazil were largely unconfirmed although a Cargill vessel said to be the Hubert Fedry 180,643-dwt 2012-built fixed for a cargo with Vale from Tubarao to Qingdao at an easier $9.40. A rumour that a Classic Maritime vessel did the same business proved inaccurate.
Further north, an NYK vessel allegedly fixed to SwissMarine for a 20-30 July 160,000-tonne 10% cargo from Puerto Bolivar to Rotterdam at $5.30. There was talk that an EdF vessel went to Cargill for similar business at $5.20.
Reports that MOL booked tonnage for a Narvik/Turkey cargo were premature.


PANAMAX
A similarly slow day for Panamax tonnage with mixed views/anticipation for the Atlantic market. South America trading has slowed with some fixing and failing and a suggestion that in the short to near term this market was due for a correction. The US Gulf market was likely to remain act for the next couple of months or so. A split market looked a possibility with the north attracting more attention. Tonnage still remained tonnage in the north Atlantic with enough cargoes to keep the market here firm, brokers said.
Trading was slow in the east. Charterers were talking rates lower but owners were standing their ground with a stand-off in evidence.
Period talk included a report that the Marichristina 74,410-dwt 2001-built open Lumut was rumoured booked for a short period possibly at $6,000 daily- a rate some considered highly possible given the delivery.

ATLANTIC
In the US Gulf, Cofco Agri took the 74,005-dwt 16-year old Jun Jie for a trip from the US Gulf to India at $10,100 daily and a $250,000 bonus, but it was not clear when the business was done.
Caravel earlier fixed the 2011-built 80,582-dwt India for 9-11 July delivery Amsterdam for a trip via east coast Canada to the east at $10,250 daily with grains. The Star of Abu Dhabi 81,426-dwt 2009-built open Hamburg was said on subjects, but details were not reported.
There was some Black Sea activity but Bunge fixed and failed with the Star Angelica 2006-built 82,981-dwt for 5-6 July delivery Yanbu for a trip via the Black Sea to the Red Sea at $7,000 daily. ADMI fixed and failed with a 75,000-tonner from Iskenderun via the Black Sea and Red Sea with Port Said redelivery at $7,900 daily. Transgrain booked the booked the Atlantic Prime 82,188-dwt 2011-built from Diliskilesi for a trip via the Black Sea to the east at $13,000 daily.
From South America, there was talk that Sanko has a ship on subjects basis timecharter for a 23-29 July cargo from Brazil to China, but details were not forthcoming.
Today the 1999-built 73,127-dwt Fratzecos was reported Tuesday as fixed on subjects for 15-16 July delivery east coast South America to the east at $7,750 daily plus a $275,000 bonus, but today some suggested the ship went to Itiro for a trip to Iran at $8,600 daily plus a $360,000 bonus.
The Bright Gemini 82,165-dwt 2013-built open north coast South America fixed, but details remained private.

ASIA
Louis Dreyfus recently fixed the Ever Grace 82,039-dwt 2015-built from Mizushima 5-7 July for a NoPac round at with grain to China at $6,250 daily.
SwissMarine booked the Medi Cagliari 2004-built 75,772-dwt for 5-9 July delivery Qingdao for a trip via Newcastle to Masinloc at $$6,000 daily.
The 2012-built LME agreed $5,500 daily for a trip from Hong Kong via Indonesia to south China, but a charterer was not reported.


SUPRAMAX/HANDYSIZE
The end of Ramadan celebration holidays impacted the market today and lead to a very quiet day.

ATLANTIC
An Ultramax 61,000-dwt was linked to a trip basis delivery Gibraltar via the US Gulf with redelivery China at $9,000 daily but some reported that this might have been with Priminds. A 56,000-dwt was rumoured to have been put on subjects for an east coast South America fronthaul at $8,500 daily plus a $190,000 ballast bonus. An unsubstantiated rumour circulated that the Alam Mulia 61,000-dwt might have been covered on short period but details were not disclosed. A Supramax open north coast South America was rumoured to have been covered for a long trip to the Far East at close to $11,000. An Ultramax was also reported booked for a trip from the US Gulf to west coast central America in the upper teens. BAI was linked to a 56,000-dwt open US Gulf for a trip to the east Mediterranean at $12,000 daily. An Ultramax was rumoured fixed for a trip via the Black Sea to the Indian Ocean-South Africa area at close to $8,000. An unnamed Supramax was said on subjects for a trip from the eastern Mediterranean to US Gulf at $2,000 daily. The Red Orchid 61,000-dwt open Bremen allegedly agreed $8,000-daily for a trip to Brazil.
Handysize remained quiet. There was a rumour a vessel fixed a trip Continent to south-east Asia but details were sketchy. There was talk a 30,000-tonne 10% fertiliser cargo fixed from Ust-Luga to Dakar at $17.00, but again little else emerged.

ASIA
The Ramadan holiday impacted on trade in this area with little reported. The Skelt 35,000-dwt 2010-built was said fixed basis delivery Kosichang for a trip redelivery China at $5,650 daily with Siva Bulk.
